Research: My role as a senior lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine is multi-faceted; principally I carry out research into the molecular basis of left ventricular dysfunction and heart failure using a combination of transgenesis and gene knockout technologies, molecular biology and analysis of cardiac physiology. Much of this research is carried out in collaboration with a number of post-graduate students under my supervision (see details below) and is funded by grants from British Heart Foundation and MRC.
Postgraduate research tutor for Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences within the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences: All PhD, MD and MPhil students have a PGR tutor – in this role I maintain an overview of each student’s progress through their programme. I am here to provide all types of help and guidance.
Teaching: I teach on a number of graduate and undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences and am lead for the Cardiovascular Fitness teaching to the MB ChB undergraduate medical students.
